Janet Cowen

Janet Cowen graduated in 1976 from Sydney University with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and in 1999 completed her Master of Economics at the University of New England. Cowen spent the first stage of her career in education working as a mathematics teacher for the NSW Department of Education and TAFE. Cowen completed a graduate conversion course in accounting at the University of Technology, Sydney and was awarded the prize for the top graduating student. In 1993 she began part-time lecturing/tutoring at UWS Nepean, Macquarie University and UTS before joining the University of Western Sydney (UWS) as a permanent academic in 1994. Janet has been heavily involved with the development and delivery of the undergraduate financial planning unit delivered by UWS. In 2002-3 Cowen was the course coordinator of the Master of Commerce (Financial Planning) program, a distance delivered program run by the University of Western Sydney.
