Pam McAlister
Pamle McAlister is a principal with Greenfields Financial Services Lawyers and also serves as general counsel and group executive governance for Australian Unity. In this role she leads the Governance Services unit of the Australian Unity group and is the executive responsible for managing its legal, secretariat, compliance and risk management functions. Before joining Australian Unity in January 2005 she was the deputy executive director, Financial Services Regulation at the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, charged with the implementation of the government's financial services reforms. As deputy executive director she was responsible for the supervisory functions of the directorate: licensing and regulatory compliance, but in her previous role as the director of legal and technical operations, she was in charge of relief applications and internal legal advice. Before joining ASIC in July 2002, Pamela was a partner in funds management with Freehills in Melbourne. Pamela previously specialised in superannuation law, with additional experience in commercial law and tax. Professional background: Pamela was admitted to practice in 1980. She holds a BA LLB from Monash University and has completed her LLM at the University of Melbourne.
