Hi Jim
After 40 years in accounting and financial services I still have clients today that go back to my commencement.
Trust is earned and ethics are ingrained into the character of the person. Not sure that you can teach ethics, you may pass an exam but can you really teach someone to put others best interest before your own.
I like helping people and enjoy building that relationship. We have not always agreed but this time I think that you are right
Your article is pretty well accurate except for the comment (These advisers are paid by their clients based purely upon the quality of their service and advice they provide year-after-year.)
Are you saying that clients did not receive good advice over the last 40Yrs apart from a few bad apples? An example is some politicians doing the wrong thing,THEY say sorry and then it becomes old news.
How do you put a price on good advice? I will say to you Jim, don't get sucked in from the Royal Commission. Herald Sun news on Friday stated $50 Billion wiped of the superannuation market and when the S&P200 was at just under 6,300 ,$50 Billion plus increased the value of superannuation funds! I know where you are coming from and you have accepted the Royal Commission appraisal of advisers, which means we are all tard with same brush, WRONG.
Jim,
I agree. It is just a pity the industry is taking so long to realise this.
